CRUSTY DEMONS 2008 UNLEASH HELL
REGIONAL TOUR WRAP
The Crusty Demons 2008 Unleash Hell Regional Tour drew to a sensational finish in Rockhampton on June 14 after making its way around the country for the past four months. The tour was the longest ever completed by the Crusty’s which visited 17 regional centres between Launceston and Darwin, and amazing almost 200,000 fans along the way.
The riding was off the hook and no doubt delivered the best FMX performances Australia has ever seen. One of the highlights on the tour was the double back flip which blew the minds of everyone who witnessed it. America’s Scott Murray was the crazy guy willing to perform the trick and demonstrated just how dangerous it really is by landing only four of eleven attempts. Murray was lucky to escape serious injury from his crashes including when he was carried off to hospital in an ambulance on his first attempt in Canberra.
Rider of the tour was awarded to Australia’s Matt Schubring who was riding consistently well and always pulling off some of the biggest ruler flips ever unleashed. America’s Nicky Danielson also impressed on his first ever tour down under. His Shaolin flips kept getting bigger at every show and his character and craziness definitely became a crowd favourite.
America’s top riders were back in action along with Australia’s best. The Crusty’s also introduced Japan’s Takayuki Higashino at some shows who ripped it up on his first ever Crusty tour. Each show finished with every rider taking part in the final back flip combination train that had them all flipping one after the other and bringing every crowd screaming and cheering to their feet.
The four wheel and mini bike madness was back better than ever as well as the best BMX tricks and the Freak’s stomach churning acts.
The Crusty’s are now resting up or competing in the US for the next few months before they embark on their first ever tour of Europe which kicks off in September.
